Under the theme “From Curiosity to Publication,” the Dhaka University Research Society (DURS) organized and executed the DURS Research Methodology Course 2026. Designed exclusively for DURS members, this flagship initiative aimed to bridge foundational research gaps, refine technical writing skills, and provide strategic direction for fully funded higher education opportunities.

Inauguration & Core Modules

The course kicked off on April 08, 2026, with a formal inauguration ceremony joined by Chief Guest and DURS Moderator, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Monjurul Karim, and presided over by DURS President Humayra Anjir. Serving as the host and General Secretary, I had the pleasure of welcoming our participants to this learning journey.

The curriculum was structured into progressive modules to guide researchers step-by-step:

  • Session 1: Research Foundations
    • Trainer: Kazi Sameo Sheesh (Senior Research Fellow, CARASS)
    • Focus: Developing critical thinking, formulating impactful research questions, and transitioning from curiosity to structured inquiry.

  • Session 2: Understanding Literature Review for Research
    • Trainer: Dr. Monirul Islam (Deputy Director at GoB, Convener & Founder, Open Access Bangladesh)
    • Focus: Systematic database searches, critical synthesis of existing literature, and mapping theoretical frameworks.

  • Session 3: Academic Writing & Publication Essentials (On-Site)
    • Venue: TSC 2nd Floor, University of Dhaka
    • Trainer: Dr. Md. Main Uddin (Professor, Department of Banking and Insurance, University of Dhaka)
    • Focus: Structuring scientific manuscripts, refining academic prose, and navigating peer-review expectations.

Special Guest & Higher Studies Feature Sessions

To complement technical training with real-world academic mentorship, we incorporated special guest seminars focused on international tracks and research career paths:

  • Meet the Researcher: Academic Journeys & Insights
    • Guest Speaker: Enayet Chowdhury (Assistant Professor, IWFM, BUET; Graduate Research Assistant & PhD Student, UT Austin, USA)
    • Highlights: Practical advice on navigating graduate school, balancing research workloads, and applying to top-tier international PhD programs.

  • Webinar: Developing a Strong Profile to Secure Full Funding for Higher Studies
    • Guest Speaker: Prof. Dr. Saidur Rahman (Distinguished Research Professor, Sunway University; Top 1% Highly Cited Researcher)
    • Highlights: Strategic insights on research positioning, building high-impact academic profiles, and securing competitive full scholarships globally.

Integrating special interactive tracks like “Meet the Researcher” alongside technical methodology modules ensures our members receive both fundamental tools and inspiring mentorship.
