DURS Research Tour 2026: Sylhet - Fieldwork, Conferences, and Strategic Networks
From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the Dhaka University Research Society (DURS) conducted its flagship Sylhet Research Tour 2026. Combining field data collection, national conference participation, and inter-university network building, the tour also served as the official divisional promotional campaign for the 2nd International Student Research Conference (ISRC) 2026, marking DURS’s upcoming 10th anniversary.

The tour began in Bholaganj, where academic inquiry was integrated with real-world field research. Participants conducted field surveys investigating eHealth Literacy in rural context, followed by visits to the scenic Shada Pathor landscape.

Following our field survey sessions, the delegation visited Bholaganj Shada Pathor to explore Sylhet’s iconic border landscape. Navigating the vibrant riverways and white stone bed gave participants a chance to relax, bond, and reflect on the day’s research outcomes in an informal setting. This excursion perfectly balanced the rigors of field data collection with memorable team-building experiences.

On the second day, DURS attended the 3rd Leading University Research Conference, organized by the Leading University Research Society (LURS). DURS participants presented their research papers, engaged in academic panels, and presented commemorative souvenirs to LURS faculty advisors and executive leaders.
The day concluded with an evening fellowship program featuring an indoor gaming competition, a BBQ dinner, and a certificate distribution ceremony.

On the final day, DURS visited Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) for a collaborative networking session titled “Student-Based Research Network: Building the Future of Bangladesh the Right Way”, hosted by the SUST Research Society (SUSTRS) in partnership with the Bangladesh Research Society (BDRS).
Graced by Prof. Dr. Nazia Chowdhury as Chief Guest, along with SUSTRS advisors Dr. Md. Jamal Uddin and Dr. Md. Mahbubul Hakim, the summit brought together student leaders from MURS, LURS, AIBARS, and SEC to establish collaborative research frameworks.
Following official exchange of souvenirs, awards, and ISRC 2026 promotional sessions, the delegation concluded the tour with a visit to Sylhet’s tea gardens.

Driving the Student-Led Research Movement
The DURS Sylhet Research Tour 2026 successfully demonstrated that impactful academic growth requires a mix of rigorous field survey methods, and active multi-institutional collaboration. Through strategic partnerships with regional societies, DURS continues to strengthen the nationwide student research ecosystem in Bangladesh.
